Dassera Celebration, American Hindu Association (AHA), Madison, WI Meenakshi an opening Bharanatyam item on the Natya Vedam which was followed by two traditional Bharatanatyam performances by Students of Kalaanjali. Meenakshi concluded the cultural program with a Bharatanatyam performance depicting the story of Goddess Durga/Kali and the killing of the demon Mahishaasur, one of the mythological stories associated with the Dassera celebration. India Day, Association of Indians in America (AIA), Madison, WI Meenakshi and several Kalaanjali students presented a special semi-classical choreography by Meenakshi for this occasion on the song 'I Love India'. The 'I Love India' choreography was very well received and Meenakshi has received several requests for her group to perform this item again in the future. In addition to this item, Students of Kalaanjali also performed four dances - two traditional Bharatanatyam items (a Geetham and a Pushpaanjali), one fusion performance, and one Rajastani folk dance. Janmashtami Celebration, American Hindu Association (AHA), Madison, WI Meenakshi and one of her youngest students (age 6) performed an extremely well received Bharatanatyam stage ballet portraying the life and pranks of Lord Krishna as a child. This performance was followed by a semi-classical dance by a Kalaanjali student depicting the pranks of Lord Krishna as an young adult. Both these performances were specifically choreographed by Meenakshi for this auspicious Janmashtami occasion. Top |

Father's Day Celebration, Association of Indians in America (AIA), Madison, WI Meenakshi opened the cultural program with a traditional Bharatanatyam Ganesha Vandanam, and later in the program also performed a fast-paced traditional Rajastani Rumaal dance. This event marks a special day in Meenakshi's life as it was her first public performance after the birth of her son about 3 months prior to this day. Top |
